Holi At Mathura

is certainly an experience of a lifetime for everyone. Itis celebrated in the suburbs of Mathura where the love life of Radhaji and Shri Krishna has been imagined. Legends say that Lord Shri Krishna was jealous of her fairness and used to enquire, Yashodaabout his ‘dusky’ face to his mother, Yashoda. It was only to balance the skin tones of each other that he used to throw colors at Radha and paint her face with multiple colors. From his village Nandgaon, Krishna, and his friends used to come to Barsana – Radha’s village to colour Radha and her friends. The girls used to beat the guys, playfully though, with sticks

This tradition has been designated because of the immortal Radha Krishna couple and has only evolved to be a more colorful and wild lathmar Holi. Also

The celebrations are quite diverse and elaborate, which ensures that everyone, spends the best time possible.

It is certainly the ideal place to be in, during this season! With colors and naughtiness in the air, the lingering smell of sweets, and happy colorful

faces greeting each other, everyone wishes to be a part of this amazing extravaganza! It is a month-long fiesta beginning in February and ending with the grand Mathura Holi celebrations in March. It covers the whole Brij Bhoomi, from Gokul, Vrindavan, Barsana, Nandgaon to Mathura. Month-long events at these places leave you mesmerized! And why not! Every Year International TV teams, Celebrated Dignitaries, Photographers & Tourists from all continents throng to Mathura to see this spectacle!

BarsanaLathmaar Holi followed by the repulsive action at Nandgaon is very much exciting! 'Fallen Ki Holi' takes place in the Fallen village 40 km away, from Mathura, where a priest walks barefooted and bare-bodied through a mound of fire! It is said the family of the priest is blessed by a saint to stay unaffected by fire, just like 'Prahlad'. Be sure, this mind-boggling event will surpass all the chills and thrills you must have seen! Lastly, 'Dauji Huranga', which is played in the village of Lord Krishna's elder brother Baldeo who was also called 'Dauji'. It is going to drench your senses in a splash of colors!

Why celebrate Holi in Vrindavan and Mathura? Know About the Origin of Holi!

While Holi is celebrated in almost every part of India, Holi in Braj is especially famous among people and tourists from everywhere. Braj is a historical region that caters for the areas of Mathura, Vrindavan’s vicinity areas and itself. Holi here attracts tourists and pilgrims from all over the world because of its unique customs and traditions.

Mathura is the birth-place of Lord Krishna, and Vrindavan is the place where he grew up in his childhood.

Lord Krishna(in his childhood), cribbed about Radha (his friend) to his mother, about Radha being fair while Krishna himself was dark in complexion. His mother (Yashoda) suggested he to playfully, colour Radha. Over the years, Krishna from his village Nandgaon used to go to Barsana (Radha’s village) to colour Radha and other Gopis. They also used to playfully beat him with sticks. And hence the tradition evolved.
